By the Waters of Babylon

There was the great river below, like a giant in the sun. It is very long, very wide. It could eat all the streams we know and still be thirsty.

  1. I chose these two sentences from the text because they both contain literary term. In the first sentence, the author used simile to directly compare the river and the giant with the word "like". It made readers think about the features that giants have and connect them together. Personification was contained in the second sentence. Through saying that "eat all streams", the author tried to connect the river to actions that we do every day and also with the giant that he mentioned before.
